At FakeNews, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how our app handles your information when you create parody news videos.
FakeNews does not collect, store, or transmit any information that identifies you personally. Specifically, we do not collect:
FakeNews collects anonymous usage analytics so we can see which templates people actually use and where the app gets confusing. This is the only information the app sends over the internet.
What is sent:
What is never sent: your photos, videos, audio, headline text, or finished exports. Your media is composited on your device and stays there.
We do not use this information for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Because of that, FakeNews does not show Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
You can turn this off. Open the gear icon in the app's gallery and switch off "Share anonymous usage data". Nothing further is sent from that moment on — the analytics component is shut down immediately and is not started again on future launches. Turning it off sends no parting message of any kind, and the app works exactly the same either way.
Analytics is provided by TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. Events are sent over an encrypted connection and stored on TelemetryDeck's servers, and retention is governed by their privacy policy. As with any internet request, their servers receive the IP address your device connects from.
Everything you create stays on your device:
The optional Pro unlock is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment information. Purchase records are managed by Apple and tied to your Apple Account, not to any account with us.
Our analytics record whether a purchase or restore completed, so we can tell how many people find the Pro unlock worthwhile. This is a simple count against the anonymous identifier described above — it contains no price, receipt, Apple Account, or payment details.
FakeNews does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The anonymous usage analytics described above contain no personal information, are not used to build a profile of any individual, and are never used for advertising.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.
In accordance with Apple's App Store requirements, FakeNews's privacy label declares three types of data, all collected for analytics only:
All three are marked Not Linked to You and Not Used to Track You.
